Arret by CliffeArts Arret by CliffeArts
This is Arret for the "9" contest here on DA.

The stop sign is attached on a pivot point on the neck and is drawn back with that wire. A spring and hydraulic system inside the chest area launches it forward like shown in the image.

I have tons more ideas and may enter a few more critters if I have the time.

Edit - Redesigned the spine and ribcage. I think it looks much better now.

Hey you. I was lookin' at this and I realized that I like the atmosphere that you got goin' on in here, but I think it'd be really nice if you added in some actual junk or garbage or just somethin' that'll put Arret into a more solid place and it'd help give us a sense of his overall size.

The way the picture is now is awesome and it's great, but goin' that extra bit would really do some good. (I know you got a lot on yer plate right now tho so don't feel like you have to! )

Lol, nice.

It also works as an emergency brake.

well, since this is about 9, where the robots actually don't have to have any mechanical driver or motor causing motion... lol, all 'engineering' critiques are pointless.

I love the idea, but it does remind me a lot of the already created creature in the movie and short film.
(just based on his body design)

The only problem I see with it, structurally, are the back feet... they would have very little traction being the ends of pipes. and the creature would be slipping and sliding across whatever smooth surface he may be on.

Other than that, I like the piece. good luck!

On man it does, doesn't it?

That's what I thought about the back legs after I finished it. I never could get the back feet designed like I wanted, so they ended up like that, haha.

Thanks a bunch.

still looks pretty cool though and it is a pretty novel concept from the others.

Good design. Love the Stop sign idea, and it's mechanism. Great engineering.

Somewhat simple yet having a great design and some details into the functioning.

Nice work on this. :)

A design problem would probably be the legs. They looked tied up, so I'm curious to how it would walk with it's legs like that.

Are you referring to the rear legs being tied together? They're not though the placement of them both kinda jumbles them together visually wise. The wire on the legs is holding the metal on the base kind of like armor.
